What are the factors that affect the effect of UV curing?

Abstract:

UV curing is mainly through ultraviolet radiation, make the material cured, then formation of solid objects.  The effect of UV curing is affected by many factors, mainly including the following:

1, curing speed

According to the substrate, coating, curing distance and other differents, appropriate adjustment of equipment curing speed, if curing speed is too fast, then substrate surface UV coating will sticky or dry in surface but dry;  Slow operation speed, substrate surface aging.

2, UV coating

The thickness of UV coating plays a key role in the effect of UV curing, the coating is too thick, drying time is relatively long under the irradiation of the same power light source, on the one hand, it affects the drying of UV coating, on the other hand, it will make the substrate surface temperature is too high, will lead to poor surface gloss of the product.  In addition, the thickness of UV coating coating of the hue, temperature, curing speed, substrate surface and other different conditions need to be appropriately deployed.

3, UV lamp curing

The distance from the surface of the object being illuminated to the UV lamp and reflective cover in 7-8 cm is recommand for the best curing distance (uv energy is the strongest), but according to the different curing substrate material, the general distance is 10-15 cm.  The distance too low, then the uv lamp surface temperature is high, then the substrate deformation in heat;  The distance is too high, the uv energy is small, then the surface of the substrate material is not dry enough and sticky. So the curing distance must be properly adjusted based on the substrate material, coating, lamp power and etc.

4. Work environment

UV coating viscosity changes greatly due to temperature, so it should be adjusted to room temperature, generally 15-25℃ is appropriate, and pay attention to avoid direct sunlight when printing.

5. Ultraviolet energy

In the curing process, the UV energy of the light initiator in the SUPPLY of UV coating exceeds or insufficient will affect the energy it needs, the energy supplied is scientifically and reasonably greater than the energy it needs or blind excess supply, it will cause the negative effect of excessive curing, such as detonation polymerization, anti-curing reaction.  Therefore, the energy of the external light must be moderate, that is, it can not be excessive or insufficient, otherwise can not be completely cured.  For the detection of light energy in the curing process, it need to use a professional UV energy tester.
